Abbott Diversity Award of the Frederick Douglass Institute
Currently enrolled student in good academic standing who demonstrates leadership and sustained active participation in the Bloomsburg University community with a commitment to social justice and equality. Also must submit a 300-500 word composition describing how their actions or activities meet the criteria.
Academic Endowed Scholarship
Incoming freshmen, renewable if student continues to qualify (GPA requirements: 2.5 freshman, 2.75 sophomore, 3.0 junior).
Al Decker Scholarship
Sigma Iota Omega brother; enrolled in the fall semester preceding the award year of payment; exemplifies the best qualities of fraternal brotherhood.. If no qualified recipient is available, the donor would give preference to a descent of an SIO brother, or a member of the University's wrestling, basketball, track, football, swimming teams or a history major.
Alan & Diana Dakey Business Scholarship
A Zeigler College of Business finance major at Bloomsburg University with the first preference to a student with a minor in banking. Preference is for a student from northeastern Pennsylvania. Student must have financial need. The scholarship is renewable.

Alumni Legacy Scholarship
Child or grandchild of Bloomsburg University graduate; one entry per alumni parent or grandparent per child per year; student must be enrolled for spring semester; one scholarship will be awarded per family per year; scholarship will be applied to spring semester tuition bill; recipients selected by random drawing on November 15 each year. Alumni parents/grandparents can apply for their student at regional alumni events, Homecoming, Parents Weekend, online at www.bloomualumni.com or by phoning the Alumni Office at 570-389-4058.
American Legion Post 273 Endowed Scholarship
Students who are ROTC sophomores at time of award and who will have successfully completed their freshman ROTC year. Must be in good academic standing and have financial need. First preference graduate from one of the following high schools: Bloomsburg, Central Columbia, Benton, Bloomsburg Christian or Home Schooled in those areas. Second preference high school in Montour, Columbia, Northumberland, Sullivan County. Third preference high school in Schuylkill County.
American Sign Language Textbook Scholarship
A junior or senior in the American Sign Language program with at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average and financial need. Must submit a one page essay on how you will benefit from this scholarship and how it applies to your future career ambitions.

Anonymous Basketball Endowment
Member of the men's basketball team and a member of the women's basketball team in good standing. Highest Grade Point Average (GPA) above a 3.0 for each program. Preference order to College: Health, Science and Technology, Business, Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Science and the scholarship is renewable.
April C. Edwards Scholarship for Equity and Inclusion
A student coming from an under-represented group with the first preference for a student majoring in mathematics or computer science. Second preference to any student within the College of Science and Technology. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student continues to meet the criteria.
APSCUF Scholarship
Provided by BU's chapter of the Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges and University Faculty (APSCUF) to a non-traditional student 25 years of age or older. Be enrolled as either full-time or part-time. Must have completed at least two semesters and a minimum of 9 credits, have financial need, and a minimum GPA of 2.5. Submit a brief essay of your chosen field, educational experiences (including personal & professional classroom experiences), and professional goals. Two recommendations, one from your academic advisor and one from a faculty member who can speak about your academic progress. A copy of your unofficial transcript is also required.
APSCURF Scholarship
Provided by the BU Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges and University Retired Faculty (APSCURF) to a full-time student with a job whose GPA is greater than or equal to the top 1/3 of the College in which the student is enrolled (see below). One award for a student working 12 hours per week, one award for a junior or senior working 15 hours per week with financial need. The recipient is also asked to attend either a fall or spring APSCURF meeting as available to meet APSCURF members and share his or her education or career goals. Submit proof of employment on the employer's stationary (place of employment, job title/description, hours worked each week). If applicable, list name and relationship to you of an AFSCME family member. GPA Requirements: College of Education: 3.63 or higher College of Liberal Arts: 3.10 or higher College of Business: 3.13 or higher College of Science and Technology: 3.32 or higher.

Bartlett Education Scholarship
Bloomsburg University senior(s) who excelled academically both in the classroom and in student teaching in teacher education and who have high financial need. First preference to Amish students. To be awarded in the Spring semester.

Bernard and Frances Young Scholarship
Full-time junior or senior status in semester of award payment; secondary education major planning a career in teaching environmental, geographical, or geological sciences; formally accepted into the teaching program; minimum 3.0 grade point average; indication of promise as a reliable member of the teaching profession; financial need.
Bernard C. Dill Scholarship
A first generation college student with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0. The scholarship is renewable as long as the criteria continues to be met.
Bessie Ashe Naunas Memorial Scholarship
A student who has persevered through a difficult circumstance that has financial need. The scholarship is renewable as long as the criteria is met.
Beta Sigma Delta Scholarship
Recipient must be a direct descendent of a Beta Sigma Delta brother, including children or grandchildren, who demonstrates financial need. If no applicants from a direct descendent apply, then a current brother with demonstrated financial need is eligible. Consideration will also be given to nieces or nephews of brothers. In the event of a tie-breaker, student with higher financial need will have preference.
Betty Burnham Rosell Bloomsburg University Scholarship
Awarded to each of the male and female students in each of the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes at Bloomsburg University who are business majors and whose GPAs are the highest GPAs among the male and female students, respectively, in the business department for each of the designated classes, and who continue to attend Bloomsburg University.

Bill Swisher 1,000 Point Basketball Scholarship
A member of the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team in good academic standing that represents the University and their sport in a positive manner. The scholarship is renewable.
Bill Welk Memorial Scholarship
A current brother of the Delta Pi/Sigma Pi fraternity in good standing, and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Consideration given to academic effort, participation and leadership in fraternity activities.
Biology and Allied Health Science Scholarship
Biology (including Sec. Ed. Biology) and Allied Health Science majors who are sophomores or juniors at the time of application; have completed 12 hours in biology science courses at Bloomsburg University. Submit a letter of reference from a biology faculty member and from a faculty member outside the department, and a paragraph stating applicant's career and educational goals.

Bloomsburg Experience Scholarship Trust (BEST)
Current member of BU women's athletic team, preference given to freshmen, financial need, academic achievement, represent the University and their sport in a positive manner, renewable if student continues to qualify.
Bob and Sue Lauver Scholarship for Military Students
A sophomore student who is a Veteran, active guard or reserves, or a member of ROTC with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8. Applicant should submit a one-page essay on their military career. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student continues to meet the criteria and may be used for tuition or housing. Renewable for a maximum of three years.

A Bloomsburg University student majoring in early childhood education with financial need. The scholarship is renewable.
Bowden Family Leadership Scholarship
Nominees shall be sophomore or junior students who have shown growth in their general character and continued development of leadership skills that positively impact the Bloomsburg University organizations they serve. Leadership qualities should include overall service and commitment, modesty, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. Preference will be given to students who hold any leadership positions in University organizations and demonstrate an interest to serve Bloomsburg University through volunteering and active participation. Additional preference will be given to students who hold a leadership position with a Greek organization.
Boyer & Ritter Accounting 4 Leaders Scholarship
Two rising junior or senior accounting majors at Bloomsburg University with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0. Preferences for students residing in Dauphin, Cumberland, York or Centre counties, ethnically diverse and interest in working in public accounting. Applicants should be willing to complete a summer internship with Boyer & Ritter. Optional essay to address "Why I want to work in the public accounting sector upon graduation."
Bradley Peters Memorial Scholarship
Accounting or Finance major in good academic standing.
Braun Geology Field Camp Scholarship
Undergraduate Geosciences majors who attend an accredited summer Geologic field camp training program as part of their requirement for the Geology degree program. Hydrogeologic, Environmental Geologic, or Earth Science field camps are not acceptable. Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher in geology and supporting math/science courses required by the geology degree. A positive recommendation by the geosciences faculty on the student's likelihood of successfully completing the geology degree and going on to be an asset to the geology profession. Student must demonstrate financial need.
Brayford-Shukausky Scholarship
An incoming freshman who is not a member of a collegiate athletic team. Recipient should maintain a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5. Scholarship is renewable as long as student continues to qualify.

Bunny & Bill Bitner Scholarship
The criteria are undergraduate student with financial need preparing for a career in teaching. Scholarship is renewable though senior year provided criteria continues to be met.

Capt. F. A. Hantz, USN Retired Scholarship
First preference is sophomore or higher status; minimum three years active (continuous) duty with the U.S. Navy and an honorable/medical discharge. If no U.S. Navy, then preference given to Army, Marine Corps., Air Force, or Coast Guard. (Exception: In time of war or national emergency, this time requirement may be waived.) Special consideration given to recipients of the Purple Heart/Prisoner of War Medal. In the event of comparable applicants, these additional criteria will be applied in order: A. Length of active military service (three years - 10 points; four years - 20 points; five years - 30 points; six or more years - 40 points); B. Carl F. & Margaret L. Stuehrk Scholarship
Incoming freshman with first preference to students graduating from Benton High School. If no applicants from Benton High School, then the scholarship may be awarded to a student who graduated from another Columbia County area high school. Must maintain a minimum 2.75 grade point average. Once a candidate has been awarded a grant under this scholarship, he or she is to be preferred as a candidate thereafter for three additional years, or unless the candidate is considered to no longer qualify for the award.
Carol (Hetrick) & David Doermann Educators Scholarship
Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Secondary Education Major, Math or Science focus required. Demonstrates a dedication to teaching and service to the department, formally accepted into a teaching program, financial need, and minimum 3.0 GPA. Chet Snavely '70 Scholarship
A student that resides within the Harrisburg School District who has completed a college preparatory program at Camp Curtin YMCA. Student should request a letter of recommendation from Camp Curtin YMCA and also detail their community service activity annually. The scholarship is renewable upon the student maintaining a 2.50 GPA or better and demonstrated community service at Camp Curtin YMCA or Bloomsburg University.
Chip Callahan Memorial Scholarship
Quality of student application as determined by art faculty. To recognize a creative art project developed by an art student beyond normal classroom requirements.
Christina D. Anderson Scholarship
A sophomore, junior or senior student within the Zeigler College of Business with the first preference to a Business Management major. Student should have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.7 and be a resident of Philadelphia. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student continues to meet the criteria.
Christina M. Adenuga Scholarship
A current freshman enrolled in the ACT 101 program with financial need. The first preference is for a student who is a resident of Philadelphia, raised by a single parent and majoring in social work. Second preference is for a student who is a resident of Philadelphia, or raised by a single parent or a social work major. The scholarship is renewable with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or greater with the donor serving as a coach or mentor for the recipient.
CIBER - Center for International Business Education and Research Endowed Research Award
Student(s) who participates in an international business research project in the fall of their senior semester. Student(s) is required to give a written and oral presentation of his/her research project at the end of the fall semester. Presentation will be arranged by the Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

Senior status by semester of award payment; minimum overall 3.0 GPA; essay (two pages, double-spaced) discussing why you are best candidate for scholarship, how you contributed to BU during past three years, what you will do for BU in last year and beyond; financial need.
Class of 1998 Scholarship
Freshman or sophomore with high grades and extracurricular activities. Must submit a brief essay on a topic where they see themselves in 10 years, and how they'll remember their undergraduate days.

Freshman, sophomore or junior male athlete; minimum 2.3 grade point average for the previous semester and a 2.0 cumulative average; good ethical character, emotional stability, and indication of being reliable members of the teaching profession.

Cotton Franklin V-12 Scholarship
Full-time BU student (preferably a sophomore at time of application) who is a direct descendant of a U.S. Navy Veteran, i.e. student's father, grandfather, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, etc. serves/served in the U.S. Navy. In the event no sophomore student qualifies, eligibility will be opened to any student who meets this criteria and who will be enrolled at BU in the semester of award payment.
Cromley Endowed Scholarship
Sophomore, first generation student to attend college with a declared major within the College of Education. Must demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. First preference will be given to a student from Lycoming County. If no student from Lycoming County is eligible, then any student who is a Pennsylvania resident that meets the required criteria is eligible. Scholarship is renewable through their senior year as long as criteria continues to be met.
Cromley Helping Hand Scholarship
An upperclassmen, preference to a sophomore, who is experiencing undue financial hardship impacting their educational performance. Must have a 3.0 GPA.
Cynthia Schloss Graduate Student Award
Student must be accepted as full or part time to one of the following graduate programs: Special Education, Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Speech Pathology, or Audiology. Student must have earned a minimum of 12 credits with a GPA of at least 3.5 and must be currently enrolled. The award will be given annually during the spring semester. Award will be announced by April 1 of each year. Submit a letter of support from a graduate faculty member in the student's program of study along with an essay. The essay should address the following: 1. Evidence of volunteerism in service of individuals with disabilities or special needs and commitment to the discipline 2. Evidence of student or professional membership in organizations in the discipline 3. Evidence of leadership/scholarship in the discipline 4. Why you are deserving of this award.

An ACT 101 student who has demonstrated excellence in approach to the academic rigors of higher education by successful completion of their first semester at Bloomsburg University. Should the ACT 101 program no longer exist, the scholarship should be awarded to underrepresented, low-income, or first generation college students. Financial need may be considered. Renewable for a maximum of eight semesters if the student maintains academic good standing and satisfactory progress towards degree completion. Failure to meet these standards will result in the permanent loss of the scholarship.

Michael Collins Theatre Scholarship
Awarded to select Theatre majors who display a commitment to theatre as a diverse and multi-disciplinary pursuit, possess a collaborative spirit and leadership qualities, and who demonstrate a positive, willing attitude and a strong work ethic. Preference will be given to students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 overall and 3.5 in theatre courses. Students may apply for up to 4 years, but renewal is not guaranteed. Submit a resume of experience in theatre and a short essay addressing the question: "How has your experience in theatre impacted your understanding of leadership, collaboration, or work ethic?" Newly entering students must submit a letter of support from an individual familiar with the student's theatrical experience. An audition or portfolio presentation and an interview with the Theatre Arts Faculty will be required.

Vernon Rochester Scholarship
Player or players who have been the most courageous during the football season; selected by the physical therapist and football coaches. If the recipient is a graduating senior, the scholarship money may be used for graduate school or donated to the BU Athletic Department for use in the football scholarship program. The award will be announced after the close of the football season.
Veterans Memorial Scholarship
Full-time sophomore, junior, or senior; normal progress toward the baccalaureate degree. Criteria listed in priority order: A--Child of a deceased veteran with no living parents; B--Child of a deceased veteran with one living parent; C--Child of a fully disabled veteran as certified by Veterans Administration (VA); D--Child of a veteran with a lesser degree of disability as certified by VA; E--Child of a veteran who is a former graduate or student of BU; F--Child of any veteran; G--Veteran attending BU. A veteran is a person who has served on active duty (as defined by the U. S.
